MaRS says membership is free; no backlink or badge requirement is stated. Startup applications are selective: the Connect FAQ says Startup access is for MaRS portfolio companies, while the public startup page invites eligible Canadian ventures to apply. MaRS reviews applications. No separate waiting-list tier was shown.

Who gets into App, and how fast?

You get a listing page, with little promotion.
MaRS says applicants should hear back within about a week after submission. Shortlisted applicants are invited to a screening call; a final decision is typically made shortly after. The full process usually takes about two to three weeks.
How much traffic does App get?
What App says about its audience: MaRS Connect claims: “Join 1,000+ founders, investors and innovation leaders.” The startup page also claims “more than 1,200 science and tech ventures” and a network of “more than 100 industry experts, partners and investors.”
